Take good care of your watch.

Every Charles-Auguste Paiard watch is an outstanding crystallization of exquisite watchmaking craftsmanship, vividly demonstrating the brand's ultimate pursuit of details. To ensure that the watch always keeps accurate time, operates stably and reliably, and can be passed down through generations over time, wearers can refer to the following usage and maintenance suggestions:

Standardized Operation: Please carefully read the watch instruction manual and strictly follow the guidance on function adjustment, daily use, and maintenance in it for operation.

Seal Inspection: It is recommended to regularly have the watch's seal inspected by an authorized watchmaker. Accidental bumps to the watch may damage its seal and affect its water resistance.

Proper Winding: For manually wound watches, it is recommended to wind the watch once every morning. If you own an automatically wound watch but wear it less frequently, it is more appropriate to wind it once a month. When winding the watch, you can take it off your wrist to make it easier to adjust the crown.

Environmental Protection: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature environments, and also prevent the watch from being impacted and scratched. If the watch is accidentally bumped, it should be immediately handed over to an authorized watchmaker for a comprehensive inspection. In addition, try not to wear the watch during strenuous and vibrating sports. Although Charles-Auguste Paiard has effectively controlled the influence of magnetism on the watch by using a silicon hairspring, long-term exposure to a strong magnetic field may still interfere with the normal operation of the watch.

Water Resistance Assurance: Ensure that the crown and all buttons are in their original positions to maintain the watch's good water resistance. For watch models equipped with screw-down crowns or buttons, after the operation is completed, be sure to screw them back in place.

Power Reserve (Automatic)

The movement features an automatic winding mechanism, activated by wrist movement. Wearing the watch 10 - 12 hours daily usually builds enough power reserve for night - time operation. So, wear it this long daily for several days.

If worn too briefly, with limited wrist activity, or not daily, power drains. Then, manually wind the crown 15 - 20 times to replenish it. This applies to new mechanical watches and those with irregular use.

Contrary to common belief, merely shaking an automatic watch doesn't adequately wind the mainspring or store power. Lack of proper winding will eventually halt the watch and compromise accuracy.

Leather Strap

In order to maximize the service life of the leather watch strap, it is recommended that you follow the following maintenance steps:

Waterproof and moisture-proof: Try to avoid contact between the strap and water and moisture to prevent the strap from changing color and deforming due to moisture, which may affect its appearance and wearing experience.

Avoid exposure to the sun: Do not expose the strap to the sun for a long time. Ultraviolet rays will accelerate the aging of the leather, causing the strap to fade and shortening its service life.

Keep away from oil stains and cosmetics: Leather has strong permeability. Once it comes into contact with greasy substances and cosmetics, the stains are difficult to remove. At the same time, do not use leather cleaners to clean the strap to avoid damaging the material of the strap.

What is the difference between an automatic winding movement and a manual winding movement?

The most obvious difference between an automatic winding movement and a manual winding movement lies in the way of winding. For a manually wound watch, the wearer needs to wind it manually every day to replenish power for the movement. On the other hand, an automatically wound watch is equipped with an automatic winding device. Relying on the kinetic energy generated by the wearer's daily wrist movements, the oscillating weight in the device rotates, thus achieving automatic winding.

An automatically wound watch generally has a power reserve of at least 38 hours. This means that even if it is not worn for a certain period of time, the watch can still operate stably and ensure the continuity of timekeeping by relying on the pre-stored energy.
What is the time tolerance of Charles - Auguste Paillard's watch?

An automatic mechanical watch drives the internal mechanism to operate through the natural swinging of the arm during daily wear, replenishing and storing energy for the mainspring to maintain timekeeping. If the daily wearing time is less than 8 hours or the amplitude of the arm swing is small, the watch will obtain limited energy and may stop running due to insufficient energy.

When the watch has not been worn for a long time, when it is first used, it is necessary to turn the crown about 30 times by means of manual winding to reserve sufficient energy in advance to ensure the stable and accurate timekeeping of the watch.

It should be noted that there will be a certain timekeeping error in the operation of a mechanical watch, which is usually measured by the daily error, generally ranging from -30 seconds to +30 seconds. This error will not accumulate. To ensure the accuracy of the watch's timekeeping, it is recommended to adjust it once a week according to the standard time.
What is the water resistance of Charles - Auguste Paillard's watch?

The  water resistance performance of a watch is not constant and may change over time and with use. The aging of the  water resistance gasket or accidental impacts on key  water resistance components such as the crown, buttons, and crystal mirror may weaken the watch's  water resistance function.

To ensure that your watch always has reliable  water resistance performance, according to the maintenance specifications, it is recommended to send the watch to a Charles - Auguste Paillard - approved maintenance center once a year for a professional  water resistance performance test.
When do most Charles - Auguste Paillard watches change the date?
Charles-Auguste Paillard ingeniously adopts a slow date change system. This system can clearly present the date change process around midnight, effectively avoid date display confusion, and greatly improve the accuracy of time reading.

Until 11:30 p.m., the date window will fully display the date of the day. As it approaches midnight, through the date window, you can still fully see the date of the day at the bottom. At the same time, the new date begins to quietly appear at the top. Subsequently, the new date gradually moves downward, and the date of the day gradually fades away. This change process will be completely completed between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

In order to avoid damaging the automatic date change mechanism, please do not manually adjust the date between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. The watch is automatically performing the date change operation during this period.
